Is it dangerous to drive with a misaligned (wheel alignment) vehicle?

Although wheel alignment on light vehicles and trucks' consists of basically the same concept; trucks have a bid more cause for concern around misalignment. Trucks uses trailers which are loaded and some trailers may wary between a single link (2 axles) and/or a link (4 axles), meaning that the load and weight type is different in comparison to light commercial vehicles. Based on the dangers with misalignment on trucks lets explain the progress.

When your wheels aren’t aligned (in a straight line) it may cause your truck to pull or drift out of a lane. Proper wheel alignment is necessary for handling the vehicle easily. Maintaining straight trajectory is difficult which can also cause driver fatigue and strain as a result. There are no safe handling from constantly trying to keep the vehicle in a straight line which could add to premature suspension wear. A misaligned vehicle is more difficult to steer, especially at high speeds. If you have to make sudden movements to avoid hitting obstacles on the road, your vehicle won’t be able to move as quickly or effectively, giving you less control over the vehicle at the times you need it most.

Trucks are much heavier and bigger to control on the road. Depending on the severity of the alignment, you will feel it vibrate, the faster you go, and this could also be an indication for unbalance wheels (another subject to address). Due to the fact that you have to- basically fight for more control over your vehicle while driving, it increases the risk of tyre damage and could cause accidents on the road.

Wheel alignment is not the only important aspect for maintenance but it also has combined safety issues for you and other road users. Misaligned tyres driven to the point of severe replacement wear can cause unexpected blow outs while driving. At high speeds, these could result in a tyre blow out and cause an accident that could lead to death. Taken into consideration the impact that misalignment has on tyres, it is safe to say that your brakes are also affected. The wheels aren’t aligned in the same direction and so the brakes will not function at the same precise moment which is a big concern for you and other road users around you, this is an obvious risk factor.

NOTE: Not only is driving with a misaligned vehicle dangerous but it can also be a costly and traumatic experience for you.
